On May 31 and June 7, 2024, the Regalleos Batch of 2021 hosted their Social Graces fine-dining events at the MMMA mess hall. The events were graced by distinguished guests of honor, VADM Robert A. Empedrad, former MARINA Administrator, and Capt. Joel Porto, fleet manager of the Magsaysay Maritime Corporation. Both delivered inspirational speeches aimed at motivating the third-year cadets as they prepare for their future journey onboard ships, especially with their launching ceremony approaching.

The fine-dining event itself featured a three-course meal, composed of an appetizer, main course, and dessert, designed to train the cadets in the intricacies of elegance and social etiquette. This event not only provided a practical experience in formal dining but also reinforced the importance of Rule 10 of the Code of life, centered on the proper conduct and decorum of cadets in professional and social settings.

The cadets demonstrated their commitment to excellence by adhering to high standards of behavior and presentation, reflecting the values instilled by the academy. In addition to the fine dining, the cadets had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with the distinguished guests, gaining insights and advice that will be invaluable as they embark on their careers at sea, further establishing the academy’s goal of training them not just for a job, but for life.
